Parágrafo 142

142

As My tribulations multiplied, so did My love for God and for His Cause increase, in such wise that all that befell Me from the hosts of the wayward was powerless to deter Me from My purpose. Should they hide Me away in the depths of the earth, yet would they find Me riding aloft on the clouds, and calling out unto God, the Lord of strength and of might. I have offered Myself up in the way of God, and I yearn after tribulations in My love for Him, and for the sake of His good pleasure. Unto this bear witness the woes which now afflict Me, the like of which no other man hath suffered. Every single hair of Mine head calleth out that which the Burning Bush uttered on Sinai, and each vein of My body invoketh God and saith: “O would I had been severed in Thy path, so that the world might be quickened, and all its peoples be united!” Thus hath it been decreed by Him Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

À medida que as Minhas tribulações se multiplicavam, também o Meu amor por Deus e pela Sua Causa aumentavam, de tal forma que tudo o que Me sucedeu vindo das hostes dos desobedientes foi incapaz de me impedir do Meu objetivo. Se Me ocultassem nas profundezas da terra, porém, ver-Me-iam sobre as nuvens no alto, e chamando para Deus, o Senhor de força e poder. Ofereci-Me no caminho de Deus, e anseio por tribulações no Meu amor por Ele, e para bem da Sua complacência. Disto dão testemunho as angústias que Me afligiram, cujo igual nenhum outro homem sofreu. Cada cabelo da Minha cabeça brada aquilo que a Sarça Ardente proferiu no Sinai, e cada veia do Meu corpo invoca Deus, dizendo: “Oh, se eu pudesse ser cortada no Teu caminho, para que o mundo pudesse despertar, e todos os seus povos unirem-se!” Assim foi decretado por Aquele Que é o Omnisciente, o Informado de Tudo

Parágrafo 141

Upon Our arrival at this Prison, We purposed to transmit to the kings the messages of their Lord, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Though We have transmitted to them, in several Tablets, that which We were commanded, yet We do it once again as a token of God’s grace. Perchance they may recognize the Lord, Who hath come down in the clouds with manifest sovereignty.

Após a Nossa chegada a esta Prisão, propusemo-Nos transmitir aos reis as mensagens do seu Senhor, o Poderoso, o Todo-Louvado. Apesar de termos transmitido, em várias Epístolas, aquilo que ordenámos, fazemo-lo novamente como um sinal da graça de Deus. Porventura, poderão reconhecer o Senhor, que desceu nas nuvens com soberania manifesta.

Parágrafo 140

More grievous became Our plight from day to day, nay, from hour to hour, until they took Us forth from Our prison and made Us, with glaring injustice, enter the Most Great Prison. And if anyone ask them: “For what crime were they imprisoned?”, they would answer and say: “They, verily, sought to supplant the Faith with a new religion!” If that which is ancient be what ye prefer, wherefore, then, have ye discarded that which hath been set down in the Torah and the Evangel? Clear it up, O men! By My life! There is no place for you to flee to in this day. If this be My crime, then Muḥammad, the Apostle of God, committed it before Me, and before Him He Who was the Spirit of God, and yet earlier He Who conversed with God. And if My sin be this, that I have exalted the Word of God and revealed His Cause, then indeed am I the greatest of sinners! Such a sin I will not barter for the kingdoms of earth and heaven.

Dia a dia, ou melhor hora a hora, a Nossa situação tornava-se mais penosa, até que Nos levaram da Nossa prisão e nos fizeram, com injustiça flagrante, entrar na Mais Grandiosa Prisão. E se alguém lhes perguntasse: “Por que crime foram eles aprisionados?”, eles responderiam, dizendo: “Eles, em verdade, tentaram suplantar a Fé com uma nova religião!” Se aquilo que é antigo é o que preferis, então porque haveis posto de parte o que foi enviado na Torá e no Evangelho? Esclarecei, ó homens! Pela Minha vida! Não há lugar para onde fugir neste dia. Se este é o Meu crime, então Muhammad, o Apóstolo de Deus, cometeu-o antes de Mim, e antes d’Ele, Aquele Que era o Espírito de Deus, e ainda antes Aquele que conversou com Deus. E se o Meu pecado for este, ter enaltecido a Palavra de Deus e revelado a Sua Causa, então Eu sou, de facto, o maior dos pecadores! Esse pecado Eu não o trocarei pelos reino do céu e da terra.

Parágrafo 139

139

O King! We were in ‘Iráq, when the hour of parting arrived. At the bidding of the King of Islám4 We set Our steps in his direction. Upon Our arrival, there befell Us at the hands of the malicious that which the books of the world can never adequately recount. Thereupon the inmates of Paradise, and they that dwell within the retreats of holiness, lamented; and yet the people are wrapped in a thick veil! Say: Do ye cavil at Him Who hath come unto you bearing the clear evidence of God and His proof, the testimony of God and His signs? These things are not from Himself; nay, rather they proceed from the One Who hath raised Him up, sent Him forth through the power of truth, and made Him to be a lamp unto all mankind.

Ó rei! Estávamos no Iraque, quando chegou a hora da nossa partida. Por ordem do Rei do Islão, dirigimos os Nossos em direcção a ele. Após a Nossa chegada, aconteceu-Nos às mãos dos maliciosos aquilo que os livros do mundo nunca conseguirão narrar adequadamente. Consequentemente, os habitantes do Paraíso, e aqueles que residem nos retiros da santidade, lamentaram-se; e, no entanto, o povo está envolto num véu espesso. Dize: argumentais com Aquele que chegou a vós trazendo evidências claras de Deus e a Sua prova, o testemunho de Deus e Seus sinais? Esta coisas não vêm d’Ele; pelo contrário, elas procedem d’Aquele que o levantou, que o expôs através do poder da verdade, e que O tornou uma lâmpada para toda a espécie humana.

Parágrafo 138

For what thou hast done, thy kingdom shall be thrown into confusion, and thine empire shall pass from thine hands, as a punishment for that which thou hast wrought.[13] Then wilt thou know how thou hast plainly erred. Commotions shall seize all the people in that land, unless thou arisest to help this Cause, and followest Him Who is the Spirit of God in this, the Straight Path. Hath thy pomp made thee proud? By My Life! It shall not endure; nay, it shall soon pass away, unless thou holdest fast by this firm Cord. We see abasement hastening after thee, whilst thou art of those who are fast asleep. It behoveth thee when thou hearest His Voice calling from the seat of glory to cast away all that thou possessest, and cry out: “Here am I, O Lord of all that is in heaven and all that is on earth!”

Por aquilo que fizeste, o teu reino será lançado na confusão, e o teu império escapará das tuas mãos, como uma punição por aquilo que forjaste.[13] Então saberás que erraste claramente. As agitações tomarão conta de todo o povo nessa terra, a menos que te levantes para ajudar esta Causa e seguir Aquele Que é o Espírito de Deus neste Caminho Íntegro. Foi a tua pompa que te tornou orgulhoso? Pela minha vida! Não perdurará; pelo contrário, em breve, desaparecerá, a menos que te agarres a esta Corda firme. Vemos a humilhação a aproximar-se rapidamente de ti, mas tu és daqueles que estão profundamente adormecidos. Incumbe-te, quando ouvires e Sua Voz chamando do local da gloria, repelires tudo o que possuis e bradar: “Aqui estou eu, ó Senhor de tudo o que está no céu e tudo o que está na terra!”

Parágrafo 137

137

O King! We heard the words thou didst utter in answer to the Czar of Russia, concerning the decision made regarding the war.[12] Thy Lord, verily, knoweth, is informed of all. Thou didst say: “I lay asleep upon my couch, when the cry of the oppressed, who were drowned in the Black Sea, wakened me.” This is what We heard thee say, and, verily, thy Lord is witness unto what I say. We testify that that which wakened thee was not their cry but the promptings of thine own passions, for We tested thee, and found thee wanting. Comprehend the meaning of My words, and be thou of the discerning. It is not Our wish to address thee words of condemnation, out of regard for the dignity We conferred upon thee in this mortal life. We, verily, have chosen courtesy, and made it the true mark of such as are nigh unto Him. Courtesy is, in truth, a raiment which fitteth all men, whether young or old. Well is it with him that adorneth his temple therewith, and woe unto him who is deprived of this great bounty. Hadst thou been sincere in thy words, thou wouldst have not cast behind thy back the Book of God, when it was sent unto thee by Him Who is the Almighty, the All-Wise. We have proved thee through it, and found thee other than that which thou didst profess. Arise, and make amends for that which escaped thee. Erelong the world and all that thou possessest will perish, and the kingdom will remain unto God, thy Lord and the Lord of thy fathers of old. It behoveth thee not to conduct thine affairs according to the dictates of thy desires. Fear the sighs of this Wronged One, and shield Him from the darts of such as act unjustly.

Ó Rei! Ouvimos as palavras que pronunciaste em resposta ao Czar da Rússia, sobre a decisão tomada à cerca da guerra [12]. O teu Senhor, em verdade, sabe, está informado de tudo. Disseste: “Eu estava a dormir no meu sofá quando o grito dos oprimidos que eram afogados no Mar Negro me despertou.” Isto é o que te ouvimos dizer, e, em verdade, o teu Senhor é testemunha daquilo que digo. Atestamos que aquilo que te despertou não foi o seu grito, mas os impulsos das tuas paixões, pois testámos-te e encontramos-te em falta. Compreende o significado das Minhas palavras e sê dos que têm discernimento. Não é Nosso desejo dirigir-te palavras de condenação, por consideração à dignidade que te conferimos nesta vida mortal. Nós, em verdade, escolhemos a cortesia e tornámo-la a verdadeira marca daqueles que estão próximos d’Ele. A cortesia, em verdade, é um traje adequado a todos os homens, sejam novos ou velhos. Feliz aquele que adorna o seu templo com isso, e ai daquele que está privado desta grande dádiva. Tivesses tu sido sincero nas tuas palavras, não terias repelido o Livro de Deus, quando ele te foi enviado por Aquele que é o Omnipotente, o Sapientíssimo. Colocamos-te à prova através disso, e encontramos-te outro diferente daquilo que professas.  Levanta-te e faz correcções àquilo que te escapou. Em breve o mundo e tudo o que tu possuis perecerá, e o reino permanecerá com Deus, o teu Senhor e Senhor dos teus antepassados. Incumbe-te não conduzir os teus assuntos segundo os ditames dos teus desejos. Teme os suspiros deste Injuriado, e protege-O dos dardos daqueles que agem injustamente.

Parágrafo 136

Say: O concourse of monks! Seclude not yourselves in your churches and cloisters. Come ye out of them by My leave, and busy, then, yourselves with what will profit you and others. Thus commandeth you He Who is the Lord of the Day of Reckoning. Seclude yourselves in the stronghold of My love. This, truly, is the seclusion that befitteth you, could ye but know it. He that secludeth himself in his house is indeed as one dead. It behoveth man to show forth that which will benefit mankind. He that bringeth forth no fruit is fit for the fire. Thus admonisheth you your Lord; He, verily, is the Mighty, the Bountiful. Enter ye into wedlock, that after you another may arise in your stead. We, verily, have forbidden you lechery, and not that which is conducive to fidelity. Have ye clung unto the promptings of your nature, and cast behind your backs the statutes of God? Fear ye God, and be not of the foolish. But for man, who, on My earth, would remember Me, and how could My attributes and My names be revealed? Reflect, and be not of them that have shut themselves out as by a veil from Him, and were of those that are fast asleep. He that married not could find no place wherein to abide, nor where to lay His head, by reason of what the hands of the treacherous had wrought. His holiness consisted not in the things ye have believed and imagined, but rather in the things which belong unto Us. Ask, that ye may be made aware of His station which hath been exalted above the vain imaginings of all the peoples of the earth. Blessed are they that understand.

Ó congregação de monges! Não vos isoleis nas vossas igrejas e claustros. Saí deles com Minha permissão, e depois ocupai-vos com aquilo que seja proveitoso para vós e para os outros. Assim vos ordena Aquele que é o Senhor do Dia do Juízo Final. Isolai-vos na fortaleza do Meu amor. Esta, em verdade, é a seclusão que é digna de vós, se apenas o soubésseis. Aquele que se isola em sua casa é como um morto. Incumbe ao homem manifestar aquilo que beneficie a humanidade. Aquele que não produz fruto é adequado para o fogo. Assim vos adverte o vosso Senhor; Ele, em verdade, é o Poderoso, o Generoso. Contraí matrimónio, para que depois de vós outro surja no vosso lugar. Nós proibimos-vos a devassidão, e não aquilo que é conducente à fidelidade. Sois fiéis aos impulsos da vossa natureza e repelis as leis de Deus? Temei a Deus e não sejais dos imprudentes. Se não fosse o homem, quem, na Minha terra, Me recordaria, e como poderiam os Meus atributos e a Minha beleza ser revelados? Reflecti e não sejais daqueles que isolaram d’Ele como que por um véu, e são dos que estão profundamente adormecidos. Aquele que não casou não encontrou local para morar, nem onde repousar a Sua cabeça, devido àquilo que as mãos dos traidores forjaram. A Sua santidade não consistia nas coisas que acreditais ou imaginais, mas nas coisas que Nos pertencem. Perguntai, para que possais estar cientes da Sua condição que está exaltada acima das vãs imaginações de todos os povos da terra. Bem-aventurados aqueles que compreendem.

Parágrafo 135

135

O King! The stars of the heaven of knowledge have fallen, they who seek to establish the truth of My Cause through the things they possess, and who make mention of God in My Name. And yet, when I came unto them in My glory, they turned aside. They, indeed, are of the fallen. This is, truly, that which the Spirit of God hath announced, when He came with truth unto you, He with Whom the Jewish doctors disputed, till at last they perpetrated what hath made the Holy Spirit to lament, and the tears of them that have near access to God to flow. Consider how a Pharisee who had worshipped God for seventy years repudiated the Son when He appeared, whereas one who had committed adultery gained admittance into the Kingdom. Thus doth the Pen admonish thee as bidden by the Eternal King, that thou mayest be apprised of what came to pass aforetime and be reckoned in this day among them that truly believe.

Ó Rei! Caíram as estrelas do céu do conhecimento, aqueles que procuram estabelecer a verdade da Minha Causa através das coisas que possuem e que fazem menção de Deus em Meu Nome. E, no entanto, quando vim a eles na Minha Glória, afastaram-se. Eles, de facto, são dos caídos. Isto é, verdadeiramente, aquilo que o Espírito de Deus anunciou, quando veio a vós com a verdade, Ele, a Quem os doutores Judeus contestaram, até que por fim perpetraram aquilo que fez o Espírito Santo lamentar-se, e as lágrimas dos que estão próximo de Deus fluírem. Considera como um Fariseu que tinha adorado Deus durante setenta anos repudiou o Filho quando Ele apareceu, enquanto um que tinha cometido adultério conseguiu entrar no Reino. Assim te adverte a Pena conforme ordenado pelo Rei Eterno, para que possas estar informado do que ocorreu em tempos idos e ser contado neste dia entre os que acreditam verdadeiramente.

Parágrafo 134

The breezes of the Most Merciful have passed over all created things; happy the man that hath discovered their fragrance, and set himself towards them with a sound heart. Attire thy temple with the ornament of My Name, and thy tongue with remembrance of Me, and thine heart with love for Me, the Almighty, the Most High. We have desired for thee naught except that which is better for thee than what thou dost possess and all the treasures of the earth. Thy Lord, verily, is knowing, informed of all. Arise, in My Name, amongst My servants, and say: “O ye peoples of the earth! Turn yourselves towards Him Who hath turned towards you. He, verily, is the Face of God amongst you, and His Testimony and His Guide unto you. He hath come to you with signs which none can produce.” The voice of the Burning Bush is raised in the midmost heart of the world, and the Holy Spirit calleth aloud among the nations: “Lo, the Desired One is come with manifest dominion!”

As brisas do Mais Misericordioso foram sopradas sobre todas as coisas criadas; feliz o homem que descobriu a sua fragrância, e se voltou para elas com um coração sadio. Adorna o teu templo com o paramento do Meu Nome, e a tua língua com a memória de Mim, e o teu coração com o amor por Mim, o Omnipotente, o Altíssimo. Nada desejamos para ti, salvo aquilo que é melhor para ti do que aquilo que possuis e todos os tesouros da terra. O teu Senhor, em verdade, é conhecedor, informado de tudo. Levanta-te, em Meu Nome, entre os Meus servos, e dize: “Ó povos da terra! Voltai-vos para Aquele Que Se voltou para vós. Ele, em verdade, é a Face de Deus entre vós, e o Seu testemunho e a Sua Guia para vós. Ele veio com sinais que ninguém pode apresentar. A voz da Sarça Ardente ergue-se no âmago do coração do mundo e o Espírito Santo brada entre as nações: “Vejam, o Desejado veio com domínio manifesto!”
